Beryl
Be3Al2[Si6O18] · 1/2 H2O
Silicates, (Cyclosilicates) a beryllium aluminium silicate.
Appearance: Crystalize as individul crystals and are sometimes enormous, up to 9 meters long and weight up to 25 metric tons. Often with very nice prism faces that are finaly striated and perfect terminations. Color usualy greyish white, yellowish white or pale blue green. Some varieties are transparent blue (aquamarine), green (emerald), pink (morganite), yellow (heliodor).
Hardness: 7,5-8
SG: 2,6-2,9
Transparent or translucent with vitreous luster, often contains many inclusions.
Crystal system: Hexagonal.
Environment: Are very characteristic in granitic rocks and pegmatites in very high temperature hydrothermal deposits.
