Aquamarine

Be3Al2[Si6O18] · 1/2 H2O

Silicates, (Cyclosilicates) a beryllium aluminium silicate.
Appearance: Individual crystals, can be enormous up to 9 meters. The faces are often very finely striated. The color is blue or light blue.
Hardness: 7,5-8
SG: 2,6-2,9
Transparant or translucent with vitreous luster, often contains inclutions.
Crystal system: Trigonal, Hexagonal.
Environment: Often characteristic on granitic rocks and pegmatites. Sometimes occurs as enormous crystals. The deposits are hydrothermal in very high temperature.
